In Bellaire Two young men suffered injuries (one had a gunshot wound to the chest) when a police officer put them on the ground and then accused of operating the vehicle they stole. The two young men were not armed and the officer did not declare himself an official of the law. Instead, he simply attacked the men and ordered them to fall and then pushed their mother, who was one of the men against the wall as she walked out to observe what was going on. In October 2008, five officers were rewarded after being found guilty of accepting bribes to cover up illegal activity in various Houston cantinas. The police officers instructed owners of the cantinas to pay them in order to prevent from being arrested . They were permitted to plead to fines and a minimum sentence. A police officer forced an unidentified woman to have sex with him following his arrest of the woman for shoplifting. She could plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of altering a government document.
